Maternity Photography in North Yorkshire
Recently I was asked to shoot Andrea & Martyn’s maternity photography in North Yorkshire and having planned ahead in terms of location, it was then up to the sun gods to deliver. October can be hit or miss regarding the weather yet we needn’t have worried as we were blessed with the most gorgeous late afternoon sunshine.
Andrea & Martyn chose a lovely location just 10 minutes from my home just beyond Ingleby Greenhow and so I’d dropped by the day before to scout the area for options. One thing we’re really lucky to have on our doorstep is the North Yorkshire Moors with all its rugged beauty. It really offers up endless opportunities for photoshoot locations.
Indoors or outdoors? Fortune favours the brave.
It’s fair to say these guys absolutely smashed it on the day. We’d initially discussed an indoor shoot since the weather is unpredictable at this time of year but finally settled on outdoors. Fortune favours the brave as they say and it certainly paid off for our shoot. The light was gorgeous and I have to say Andrea & Martyn made it look effortless. Being photographed doesn’t always come natural to most but we certainly had fun, which helps to relax the mood. The light breaking through the trees meant it projected shafts of light everywhere, all I had to do was spot them.
It’s funny sometimes as a portrait photographer we know what we’re looking for in terms of finding nice light in the oddest of places and yet sometimes it might look like we’re barking mad to our clients! Those beautiful shafts of light on Andrea that we found in between the firebreaks in the woods ended up being my favourite from the shoot. Baby is due in early January so it’s going to be a rather exciting Christmas break for these guys. Who knows, we may organise another shoot when baby arrives!
