Frequently asked questions.
How long have you been a wedding photographer?
15 years and counting, here’s to the next 15.
Are you insured?
Yes. Professional indemnity and public liability insurance goes without saying. I also insure my equipment but I'm proud to report I've never lost, dropped or broken any equipment in 15 years.
What happens if you’re unable to attend our wedding through illness for example?
Great question and probably the most asked. Firstly, I’m pleased to say I’ve never been ill to the point I haven’t been able to attend a wedding. Secondly, if I really couldn’t attend, I’d arrange for a replacement with a similar style to mine. Lastly, I’ve attended every wedding I’ve been commissioned for in the last 15 years.
How long until we see our images and how many might we receive?
A typical wedding will yield between 300-600 images on average. You should expect to have access to your online gallery around 4-6 weeks from your wedding day depending on the time of year.
How far would you travel to a wedding and are there any additional costs for this?
I'm based in North Yorkshire and travel throughout the UK. Travel costs are included within mainland UK for all day wedding bookings.
Do you take formal photographs of our family?
I understand they form an important part of the day, especially so for parents who will most certainly have a space ready for them on the mantelpiece. So as not to interrupt the flow of the day too much I recommend immediate family and bridal/groom party. Around 4-6 photos is ideal and should take no more than 20 minutes to do.
We’re not great in front of camera, but would like a few couple shots. Is this even possible?
Yes, most definitely. Not to blow my own trumpet (read my reviews) but my past couples who had the same concerns couldn’t believe how relaxed they were whilst being photographed together. I won’t be asking you to climb trees, hang you from castle walls or throw smoke grenades at you. No silly poses, just you guys having some quiet time away from the guests for a short while. Why not go check out my wedding portrait gallery?
What if it rains on our wedding day?
It’s a question that pops up frequently believe it or not. Here in the UK the weather is far from stable. Rest assured from a photography point of view, it’s business as usual. I posted a short article on this very topic which you can access here What if it rains on my wedding day?
How do we book?
Firstly you should use my contact form to get in touch with your date and venue details. Once I've confirmed my availability it's down to you to secure your date as soon as possible to avoid disappointment. If another couple enquire about the same date I'll never email you to tell you as it comes across as a hard sell and that's not me. I photograph a limited number of weddings each year so I can offer an exceptional and first class quality service. A signed contract along with a £500 booking fee secures your date.
